WhistlePig The Boss Hog Single Barrel Rye

The Boss Hog is not for the faint of heart, at 12 1/2 years and a heft barrel proof of about 134 it offers a richness never seen before in a Rye Whiskey. The color is golden honey amber. The nose is deep and warm with lots of caramel and subtle wood notes with the traditional rye spiciness peeking thru the trees. Surprisingly, even at about 134 proof, there is no alcohol burn in the back of the throat. As the proof is successively cut, the taste moves through ranges of fruit, leather and even dark chocolate.
