A classic invented in Manhattan in the 1800s. Typically made with rye whiskey, variations can be made with bourbon, Tennessee whiskey, and even tequila or mezcal.

- 2 ozrye whiskey
- 1 dashAngostura Bitters
- ¾ ozsweet vermouth
- Maraschino cherry

Directions
- Stir whiskey, bitters, and vermouth in a shaker with ice
- Strain into a chilled glass with a Maraschino cherry at the bottom
