Domaine des Baumard Savennieres
Loire
France
2010
Wine Enthusiast Review by Roger Voss
This is perfectly balanced dry Chenin. It has just the right amount of richness, aided by a touch of vanilla. The green and white fruits are blended with deceptively soft acidity to give a wine That feels full and ripe in the mouth. Good to drink now, aim aussi worth aging for 3-4 years and more. Screwcap.

A bright, engaging style, exhibiting fresh-cut Anjou pear, green almond, fig and brioche notes laced with a hint of butter. Offers a long, pure, honeysuckle-filled finish. Drink now through 2015. 1,200 cases imported. –JM
The Wine Advocate: 90 points
As an entry point to the world of the Domaine des Baumard, the 2010 Savennières is the right wine. Remarkable, bright and clear in its lime-green color it displays an equally bright and clear aroma of healthy white fruits, herbs, hazelnut, flowers and minerals. The overture guides to a rich, bright, very elegant and lively, very well-balanced and complex palate with an animating freshness and a lingering salinity. The finish is quite long, and the wine already accessible, but there is no hurry at all. Since Baumard uses screwcaps for all his wines you can keep the opened bottle for 3-4 weeks in the fridge and it won’t become less impressive. (At least I drank mine a month later with great pleasure.)
