A blend of Cabernet Sauvigon, Merlot and Syrah with Sicilys most famous native grape, Nero dAvola, the Di Giovanna Gerbino Rosso shows both modern and traditional Sicilian values. The modern component is the inclusion of French varieties, which add depth, complexity and a certain tannic smoothness to the Nero dAvola. More traditional are the wines richness and full-fruited body, which are a hallmark of Sicilys sun-drenched, ripe red wines. Here deep flavors of blackberry and cassis are lifted with notes of blood orange (another Sicilian specialty), coffee and dark chocolate.
