La Maialina Rosso Toscana Gertrude

A fantastic pizza, pasta, or party wine that gushes with fruit. "This is another superb set of wines from La Maialina. Readers may recall from last year that La Maialina sources unfinished wine from one of Tuscany€™s most famous estates that, understandably, wishes to remain anonymous. These are some of the very finest values in Tuscany. The 2008 Gertrude is mostly Sangiovese with a touch of Cabernet and Merlot. It is a plush wine loaded with jammy, ripe fruit and sweet spices. This is a much more internationally styled wine than the rest of the offerings from La Maialina. It, too, is a terrific value.
