Quinta de Valbom | Red Wine Blend | Duoro Portugal

From the heart of the Duoro River region of Portugal, first time ever in the US, this dry red wine comes from a field blend of up to 20 varieties of 90-year old vines, traditionally used to make port. The grapes are hand-selected, fermentation take place in granitic lagares with foot trotten. The wine aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. This wine is from a small winery that is helmed by winemaker Luis Duarte, who has been named as ‘Best Winemaker in Portugal’ by the press, and ‘Best Winemaker in the World’ by a German magazine. Aromas of well-ripened red fruits combine with floral and wood notes to create a structured and complex dry red wine.
