Tormaresca Trentangeli Rosso 2009

Antinori established Tormaresca in the Puglia region of southern Italy in 1998 and from the estate's two vineyards, Bocca di Lupo and Masseria Maime, they've been producing outstanding wines for more than a decade. They use grapes indigenous to Southern Italy, like this Aglianico as well as blending international varietals. The Antinori team led by Renzo Cotarella, has proven to be very adept at preserving ancient traditions while also applying the most modern winemaking techniques. This wine is a unique blend of 65% Aglianico, 25% Cabernet and 10% Syrah. The wine was aged 10 months in French ans Hungarian oak barrels followed by 9 months of bottle age. The Wine Spectator scored it 90 points saying "A rich and smoky red, exhibiting loads of wild berry, underbrush, dark tobacco and licorice flavors. This is well-balanced, with medium tannins and a spicy finish. Drink now through 2015."
