The color of this wine is deep red, with garnet nuances. Its bouquet is rich with notes of plum jam, coffee, cocoa and mildly balsamic aromas. On the palate, the wine is extremely powerful and full, smooth and harmonious, with ripe and gentle tannins.
Named for the majestic hilltop castle, the grapes come from dedicated vineyards that crown the estate. 100% Sangiovese produced and bottled in Montalcino. Riserva requires an additional year of aging for a total requirement of 5 years. Approximately 70% of the wine is aged for 2 years in French oak barriques and at least 6 months in bottle prior to release. Excellent aging ability.
