Winery Notes Bovet is Co-Founder Jan MacDonnell’s maiden name, and with this wine we are honoring her grandfather Louis. His passion for home winemaking and for creating a self-sustaining estate for himself and his children inspire us every day at Round Pond Estate. The icon on the label depicts the old wooden stamp that he used on the label of his homemade wine and the three bands on the capsule depict the three generations of family currently living on the property. Tasting Notes This commanding Cabernet Sauvignon offers expressive aromas of blackberry, violet, anise, black pepper spice, and dried herbs. Upon the palate, gorgeous notes of dark cherry, ripe raspberry, and plum transform to rich notes of blueberry and a touch of dark chocolate on the finish. This well-balanced wine has supple tannins and juicy acidity with a touch of the classic Rutherford Dust and a satisfying, lingering finish. Vintage Notes The rainy season was punctuated by a fairly large rain event in May which allowed vines to grow and develop with low to no irrigation. The growing season was long and, towards the end, very mild. We were allowed to pick when the fruit was ready without having our hands forced by extreme heat or rain. We are extremely pleased with the quality and character of the resulting 2019 wines with bright, tropical white varieties and red varieties demonstrating richly saturated red fruit notes such as ripe raspberry and dark cherry with soft supple tannins. Winemaking Notes The Louis Bovet Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon embodies a sharp focus on aspects of Rutherford terroir. This wine is composed from vineyard blocks which grow in gravelly and sandy soils in our Rutherford vineyard’s eastern edge/ These vines grow small, intensely concentrated grapes which translate to dark fruited, structured wines. This wine is age worthy and deserving of a place of honor in your cellar and on your table.
